Kansas City… A Tale of a Food Adventure

So I went on a food vacation of sorts to Kansas City, MO… Let me tell you it was wonderful…

I am not going to do full Urbanspoon reviews yet, but maybe later… In this post I am going to cover the highlights….

First Restaurant off the bat I ate at was Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ… This BBQ Restaurant in a Gas Station is world renown. I got the Ribs and the Pulled Pork and boy was it delicious. There sauce, which you can now buy, makes it!!!

Next restaurant I want to cover is the La Bodgea… This is an awesome Tapas place under an overpass, that makes the best sangria I have had… This has made me want to check out the Tapas place in Downtown Tucson, so stay tuned for that review… We had too many tapas to mention, but each one was like a culinary firecracker going off in my mouth.

The next food place we went to was Lidia’s… I really enjoyed this Italian Restaurant owned by TV Chef Lidia… My only problem was we were there for a large group dinner so we had a set menu. I would have rather enjoyed some of her other dishes and will go back to sample her cuisine again. What we did get was a Caesars Salad which was very good. The dressing clung to each leaf the way it should, the croutons were crunchy, yet fresh. For my entree I got the Pasta Trio, 3 types of Pasta, all better then the next. Finally desert was Tiramisu. I can tell you this Tiramisu was one of the best I have ever eaten, and I am an Italian who considers himself an authority on Tiramisu.

Finally the last restaurant of our trip was the Famous Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue. I can tell you that in Kansas City everyone has their favorite, this one was mine. I had the Beef Burnt Ends and Lamb Ribs… Although I loved Oklahoma Joe’s, Jack Stack is my winner for this trip.

So I invite you to take a trip to Kansas City and try some of these restaurants and would love to hear about your favorite places in KC as well as your favorite Culinary Vacation Spots…
